The blockchain-based virtual world Decentraland has announced the launch of a Metaverse Fashion Week that is scheduled to take place on March 24 – 27, 2022. According to the announcement, a large number of well-known fashion brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Selfridges, Tommy Hilfiger, Jacob & Co, and more will be participating in the four-day metaverse fashion event.
At the end of March, the blockchain-based metaverse Decentraland will be hosting a fashion week with an “all-star roster of digital catwalks.” Decentraland disclosed on Thursday that the virtual world’s Metaverse Fashion Week will feature digital wearables, showcase virtual runway shows, and host afterparties. Decentraland’s Metaverse Fashion Week will feature many well-known names in the global fashion industry.
According to Decentraland, the four-day fashion extravaganza will accent appearances by Vogue Arabia, Elie Saab, Guo Pei, Etro, Jacob & Co, Dolce & Gabbana, Selfridges, Tommy Hilfiger, Fewocious, Dundas, Cavalli, Paco Rabanne, Hogan, Franck Muller, Garrett Leight, Cavalli, and The Fabricant. The fashion week participants will be able to congregate in Decentraland’s latest district dubbed the “Luxury Fashion District.” The four-day event will be presented by UNXD and Vogue Arabia, according to the Decentraland team.
“Fashion and haute couture are not new to the metaverse,” Sam Hamilton, Decentraland Foundation’s creative director said in a statement sent to Bitcoin.com News. “Decentraland has been on the cutting edge of rare and in-demand digital fashion since the launch of avatar wearables in 2020. Since that time, creators have been pushing both the technical and stylistic limits of Decentraland wearables, and have created a booming economy with over $1 million in sales of avatar wearables last year.”
The fashion event will kick off with the London retailer Selfridges opening a metaverse store. Paco Rabanne and Victor Vasarely will provide an “immersive experience” during the Selfridges store opening. At the center of the event, a futuristic runway will be presented by Dolce & Gabbana, Dundas, Etro, and more.
The announcement notes that there will be a myriad of metaverse fashion experiences and Tribute Brand will be doing special “Decentraland Wearable drops.” Moreover, Meta-Tokyo will present a pop-up museum that will showcase photos from the fashion model and DJ, Amiaya.
